Allen studied the sprite-like girl. Despite her youthful appearance, she remained calm and composed from beginning to end, without the slightest ripple of emotion. Clearly, this one won’t be easy to deal with.
When everything was ready, a servant carried out a tray of cherries.
The order was drawn-Allen first, the blond man second, Everly third, and Lillian last.
Once they stood in position, the servants placed cherries on each of their heads.
From a hundred meters away, Allen drew his bow and loosed an arrow that cleanly struck the cherry perched on Everly’s head. The crowd erupted in cheers.
When it came to Lillian’s turn, mocking voices rose around her.

Their words were followed by a chorus of laughter. The disdain in their eyes was blatant.
Allen curved his lips in a devilish smile, his gaze flickering with hesitation as he looked at the girl before him. But after only a moment, he loosed the arrow.
Lillian instantly noticed the trajectory—it was aimed at her ear. So, Allen was part of the trap
too.
With the faintest stir of energy, unnoticed by all, the speeding arrow veered slightly off course, grazing harmlessly past her ear.
Allen’s eyes widened in disbelief. With his skill, such a mistake was impossible. And yet, the arrow had missed.
The blond man was up next, and to everyone’s surprise, his aim was solid. He hit two cherries, proving he too had professional training.
Then it was Everly’s turn. To her credit, she deserved her reputation. With the bow in her hands, she seemed to breathe life into it. Her posture was flawless, her movements fluid, and with two quick twangs, she shot down both men’s cherries.

Thunderous applause broke out. Praise rained down, and Everly basked in it, walking toward Lillian with even greater pride in her eyes.
She drew her bow to its full arc, her gaze dark and venomous as she locked onto Lillian. But to her growing frustration, she found no trace of fear in Lillian’s eyes.
At last, with a surge of spite, she loosed the arrow directly at Lillian’s face.
Gasps filled the air.
Just as the arrow closed in within a meter of her, Lillian’s lips curled into a cold smile. With a subtle flick of her fingers, her power deflected the arrow, sending it veering off harmlessly.
Everly froze, unable to believe what she saw. Her voice rose shrill with fury. “You cheated! You must have tampered with it! There’s no way I could miss. My archery is one of the best among the nobles p>
Lillian plucked the cherry from her head and sneered. “For a noble daughter, to be so unable to accept failure-how very disappointing.
If you truly believe I tampered, then tell me-did I deflect it left or right? Everyone here saw with their own eyes. Or better yet, why don’t we check the surveillance footage? I’m sure the cameras won’t lie p>
Allen quickly caught hold of the furious woman and said apologetically, “Forgive her. Everly was just too nervous and spoke without thinking. Please don’t take it to heart, Ms. Lillian p>
