Chapter 58
A R I A N A
I stared at myself in the big bathroom mirror my face was pale and my eyes were red from crying, there’s a small cut was on my lip.
I looked broken.
Dante had brought me home he had not said one word to me in the car he just held my hand so tight it almost hurt.
His face was like stone.
He led me straight to the bathroom. “Take a shower,” he said, his voice flat then he turned and walked out, closing the door behind him.
That was it.
No comfort.
No soft words.
Just a cold, hard command.
I was scared I knew he was angry but his silence was worse than any yelling.
I should have listened to him, if only I had followed the driver back home then the situation wouldn’t have reached as it is.
I passed by his office making sure he doesn’t see me, I should have gone to his office and waited for him but I didn’t and I so badly regret it.
I got in the shower the hot water stung my skin. I tried to wash away the feeling of those men’s hands on me as I broke down into sobs.
I was almost raped by 3 men it it wasn’t for Dante and Antoine… I really fucked up this time.
What if Dante hadn’t come? What if something worse had happened to me? The thought made me feel sick.
I got out of the shower and wrapped a big towel around myself my whole body was shaking.
I took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door.
Dante was sitting on the edge of the bed he was on the phone his voice was low and angry, but not at me he was talking to someone about the men from the alley.
He ended the call and threw his phone on the bed he saw me standing there in my towel, his eyes looked dark and full of a storm.
He didn’t say anything.
He just stood up and started walking toward the closet, like he was going to get changed and ignore me.
“Dante?” I said, my voice small and shaky.
He kept walking he didn’t even look at me.
My heart sank.
The fear and the hurt were too much.
“Please,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “Please talk to me p>
But he just walked into the closet and closed the door, leaving me alone in the, cold, scared, and more alone than I had ever felt.
The closet door opened after a few minutes Dante walked out dressed in clean, dark pants and a simple shirt his hair was still a little wet.
He did not look at me.
He walked straight toward the bedroom door, his steps hard and quick.
He brushed right past me as though I was a ghost.
The silence was breaking me and I hated it I wanted to know what was going on in his head.
“I am sorry!” I said, my voice shaking the words just fell out again I just wanted him to talk to me “I only wanted to finish the work I wanted to do a good job for you I did not know I would get into trouble I am so sorry, Dante Please, just talk to me p>
He did not stop.
He did not turn around.
He just kept walking toward the door he was going to leave me in this room alone.
A sob burst out of me.
Then another.
I could not hold it in anymore.
“Fine!” I cried, my voice loud and broken. “If you do not want to talk to me! If you hate me this much! Then you should have just left me with them! You should not have saved me Dante Russo! You should have let me die—-” the words stuck to my throat as he stopped moving.
His whole body went completely still the air in the room got cold.
Then, he turned around.
His face was not cold anymore it looked like he was hurt, as though I pushed a spear into his heart.
“What did you just say to me?” he asked his voice was quiet, but it was the scariest sound I had ever heard.
I was crying too hard to answer.
He walked back to me he did not run he walked slow, like a predator stopping right in front of me.
I could feel the anger coming off him like heat.
“You think I saved you because I had to?” he asked, his voice getting louder. “You think I would let any man put his hands on you? You think I would let anyone hurt you p>
I tried to step back, but I hit the wall.
“You are MINE!” he shouted, the words exploding from him it sent shivers running down my spine. “Do you understand that? No one touches what is mine! No one hurts what is mine! What they did… it was like—-” he paused
He was yelling now his face was close to mine.
“And you tell me I should have left you with them?” he roared. “You tell me I should not have saved you? Can you even hear yourself? “
His voice cracked. For a second, I saw something else in his eyes. Not just anger. Pain.
“I have never been so scared in my life,” he said, his voice dropping to a rough whisper. “Hearing you scream seeing them on you… It stopped my heart. I sent you home Ariana cause I didn’t want you overworking yourself and you decided to bypass that staying late and I was at the office, you should have stopped by my office but no… you decided to—” he hissed rubbing on his temples.
“Dante I p>
He shut me up by claiming my lips.
