“Serena again,” Bianca said. “But what can we do, Nathan? You say she is alive, but where is she? We can only assume she hates us that much to never appear before us. Whatever was left between the two of you is gone p>

“Nathan, some things, once broken, can never be mended,” she asserted.
Nathaniel’s gaze hardened. For a moment, he leaned back and simply held the nylon bracelet on his wrist.
“There are many women out there who want to date you!” Bianca added in
desperation. “You promised me grandkids, a life worthy of smiles and familial joy

She stopped herself when she saw her son move his chair forward and return to working on the documents on his table. Coldly, he said, “I will find her. I’ll do whatever it takes p>
“What if she is already married? What if she had already moved on?” she pressed. Nathaniel froze for a second, but quickly, he responded, “I don’t care p>
Bianca realized it was a hopeless discussion
She had already accepted it.
Her son was in love with Serena Kline, and her disappearance had turned him into someone she barely recognized.
Nathaniel was detached now.
He lived like a machine, running on discipline alone, always working, as if stopping would force him to feel the loneliness he refused to face.

Her offer clearly surprised him. Nathaniel stopped working. He blinked a few times, his mouth parting, but after a moment, his jaw tightened.
“You don’t need to do anything,” he said. “I will take care of finding Serena p>
“You should go back home, Mother. Or go to the spa with your friends. Enjoy life,” Nathar added.
His words sounded almost sarcastic to her. Truth be told, how could she enjoy life with Nathaniel being this way?
“I’d rather stay here with you,” Bianca said.
Just then, Gavin walked in and handed Nathaniel a document. “Sir, this is the license f*e for the upgrades on VanderMed Technologies’ Vanguard p>
‘Vanguard,’ Bianca noted. This was the same miracle technology that had discovered the blood clot in her brain. 1
Two years ago, they had tried to get hold of Vanguard, but VanderMed Technologies initially refused to sell a unit to the Thorne Neurological Sciences Institute.
Nathaniel and Bianca personally sent letters to the CEO of VanderMed Technologies, requesting to purchase the Al body scanner. Nathaniel was even prepared to fly to Rexam City to negotiate the deal in person, but before it came to
that, the medical technology company agreed to the sale.
Whatever had swayed the Vanders from with holding such a groundbreaking invention, they were deeply grateful.

Even Bianca was stunned.
The Vanders had always been strangely evasive.
They sold them a unit of their Al body scanner, yet none of their high-profile executives ever met Bianca or Nathaniel, not even Gavin. Only the sales manager conducted business with them.
Last year, despite repeatedly sending invitations to their own company’s major events, none of the Vander family members attended. Considering that the Thornes and the Vanders were on equal footing in wealth and influence, it was puzzling. Shouldn’t the Vanders have seized the opportunity to form alliances with them?
Sadly, Bianca and Nathaniel knew very little about the Vanders. The only thing they understood was that they were an extremely private family.
Bianca immediately stood. With renewed enthusiasm, she said, “Gavin, find out more. I would really like to meet the Vanders, any one of them. I want to thank them for giving me another chance at life p>
She was genuinely grateful for the Vanders and their technology. She smiled at the thought of finally meeting them, unaware that the name she was eager to thank was already woven into her past.
Yet if the truth ever came out, how would Bianca react to discovering that the brilliance behind Vanguard belonged to the very woman she had once rejected for her son? 2
