When Lucien woke up, it was already noon the next day.
Chloe was still sound asleep beside him.
He rubbed his throbbing temples, feeling confused.
His alcohol tolerance wasn’t bad. He’d only had a few drinks last night-sweet wine that even pregnant women could drink.
How did he get THIS drunk?
He couldn’t even remember when or how he got back to his room.
And last night, the person he had intended to stay with was me.
Lucien had been reflecting these past days. He’d been neglecting me too much lately.
He’d given the blessed charm to Chloe, then made me lose our child because of what that spiritual advisor said.
It was natural I’d be angry.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t have said something as rash as wanting a divorce.
Yet somehow he’d ended up in Chloe’s quarters instead.
Thinking about this, Lucien felt inexplicably irritated.
Even if he was too drunk to think straight, couldn’t I have helped him to MY room?
Was I really that willing to let him end up in someone else’s bed?
I used to make a scene about these things…
The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became. He got up, determined to find me and explain.
He wanted to tell me I didn’t need to be so understanding all the time-showing a little jealousy was fine.
When Chloe asked groggily where he was going, Lucien completely ignored her.
He came to my door and saw the guards still stationed there, which gave him some relief.
“Is my wife awake? Has she eaten breakfast? She just had a miscarriage a few days ago-she needs proper nutrition p>
The bodyguard stared at him in confusion.
“Mr. Ellison, didn’t Mrs. Ellison leave last night p>
Lucien froze, a wave of dread sweeping through him.
He kicked the door open.
When he saw what was on the table, he went completely rigid.

Lucien’s mind went blank. He lunged forward, trembling as he picked it up, his whole body swaying.

I actually wanted to divorce him?
He grabbed the guard by the collar, roaring:
“I told you not to let Madam leave! What the hell are you doing? Why didn’t anyone tell me she left p>
“She’s GONE and you useless bastards are still standing here p>
The guard, frightened by his appearance, stammered:
“We tried to find you, but you were sleeping so deeply p>
“The matriarch said you’d agreed. We thought you were still at dinner with Madam and the others, maybe you wanted to leave her alone p>

Furious, Lucien kicked the man aside and stormed toward Margaret’s room.
“Mom, did YOU help Giselle escape p>
Margaret had just finished her prayers to bless her lost grandchild.
She lifted her eyes slightly.

“Why would you do that? Giselle is MY wife! What gives you the right to send her away p>
Margaret slowly walked up to him and raised her hand.

“You have the nerve to ask why? You’re the last person with any right to question me p>
She trembled with rage.
“You’ve made it now. You’re successful. I can’t control you anymore p>
“Giselle ran this household for you all these years. If not for her, you’d been chopped to pieces. And you dare stand here as Mr. Ellison p>
“But mistress after mistress. Then that disaster Chloe moves in, takes Giselle’s room, and because she had a nightmare-you forced your wife to abort YOUR child p>
Margaret’s eyes burned with disgust.
