Chapter 189

Soft footsteps echoed in the halls as Naomi, accompanied by two women behind her moved forward in brisk but steady steps.
It was very early in the morning; when the sun was yet to peek out, yet the moon had gone down hours ago.
Everyone was still alseep- the Kitsunes had been so kind and hospitable to let their ’guests’ stay over, but they will all be heading back by morning when the sun was out.
The woman standing on the left side of the princess was Acella, the current, oldest Kitsune of all. She was given the responsibility of leading Kitsune while Naomi was absent.
The other woman who looked far younger than Acella was Axle, who would be travelling back to Naomi’s home with her. She was given the responsibility of being the handmaiden of the princess and guide her when it came to using her powers.
Acella turned grave.
“She’s been locked up as you’ve ordered p>
Naomi nodded gravely, turning to glance away. Until Hakura found out the reverse potion for the spell used on her, she was still considered a threat.
When they got to their first destination, Naomi turned to them.
“Give us a minute.” With that she left the two standing before entering the room Infront of them, shutting the door behind her.
Acella and Axle bowed till the door closed, then their heads slowly raised.
“What do you think of the newly appointed leader. Do you think she’s fit to rule us?” Axle innocently asked, turning to Acella with a curious look.
“The crown will decide, but personally, I think she is.” Acella simply replied and Axle bit back her other questions. Acella had spoken, and the woman was not someone of many words. She was simple and direct.
Daniel was laying back on the king sized bed in the huge room, half-asleep, a dagger clutched to his side, the other, palm-up to his forehead.
Suddenly, his eyes snapped open when he sees someone steadily enter his room and shut the door behind its figure.
With how curvaceousness the figure looked in the dark, he concluded it was a woman.
Kitsune?
His conclusion came to a finalization when it began crawling up on his bed.
“B*tch!” He growled, sitting up and suddenly grabbing her, tossing her down so that he was half straddling her, dagger presses to her neck.
Suddenly, the familiar scent hit him like a nice, sweet, scenting perfume sprayed directly at his face and he froze.
“Naomi p>
“Daniel.” She breathed, panting from having been turned over like that, feeling the sharp blade of a dagger to her neck.
Frowning, he leaned over and stared at her, finally making out her feautres in the dark.
“What do you want?” He gruffly asked, turning away from her, slapping his dagger down on the table.
“Excuse me, but were you just about to kill me?” Her eyes darkened when she realized something.
“I thought you were a He suddenly froze and turned guiltily to her on the bed, realizing what he said or was about to.
Naomi nodded and swallowed, feeling her throat clench in pain.
“A Kitsune. You thought I was a Kitsune, didn’t you p>
He grinded his teeth.
“You’re different p>
“Yeah,” She chuckled bitterly. “That’s because you’ve always thought I was some latent or a werewolf. And now you figure out that your mate’s is a Kitsune, you have to ’adjust’ to my new status, don’t you p>
“You’re Naomi… my mate. You are a Kitsune.” He suddenly spat out and she shrank under his gaze. “The Naomi I knew was someone who didn’t even have a status anywhere in the world. She was just a maid… but I loved that Naomi. I wouldn’t have cared If she was a witch. I just wanted to be with her but now.. ”
“But now She probed him, her eyes fixed in his, the two not realizing how close they were to kissing on the bed.
“That Naomi is dead. She died the day an Omega killed her in the underground room. She died the day I left the pack. I don’t… know you p>
There was silence in the room as they just stared at each other.
Suddenly, she crawled off the bed, and he just glanced away, not able to meet with her eyes.
Bang!
The door shut with a loud sound and he glanced up to see she had left.
’Daniel… ’ Kevin started.
“I know. I messed up. I’m stupid and Naomi probably deserves better. But you know what? I might sound childish, but she deserves this. She deserves to know how she made me feel all those years when I thought she was 6 feet underground when she was just like six feet away from me each time we were together p>
As he said those words, he got up, clutching his pillows hard, eyes brimming with tears.
Crash! Bang!
Things fell to the floor and smashed to pieces as he scattered several things with the pillows.
When he was done, he tossed the pillow aside and slides down his room door, head leaning against the door.
“Your highness, are you… are you okay?” Axle asked worriedly when Naomi slides down the door, leaning her head against it with closed eyes.
She could hear the faint sound of things crashing in the room before there was silence.
Axle and Acella exchanged glances before turning to Naomi who was sitting there, head back against the door with tears running down her eyes, down her chin to the ground.
Daniel was on the other side, head back against the door as he found a sudden peace just staying there before his eyes closed.
After a few minutes of silence, Naomi got up before turning to them.
“Come on. I’ll call my brother instead.” She moves away and the two exchanged glances again before following her.
As Naomi got close, she made to open it, but realizing he was with Nancy and they might want their privacy, she calmly knocked and closed her eyes, waiting.
Soon, the door opened up.
“Oh… Talia… ” Naomi bit her lip, a bit embarrassed that she had knocked at the wrong room and had disturbed her sleep.
Talia was sleepy for sure, and a bit annoyed that she was woken up, but it all cleared off on the seeing the red puffy eyes on Naomi’s face.
“Naomi.. are you okay? Were you crying?” Her voice was quite loud so p>
Brittany suddenly appeared behind Talia instantly.
“Crying? Naomi what’s wrong… ”
Naomi tried shushing them up with sign language and gestures but their kept berrating her with questions until she was forced to speak up.
“Guys it’s very early in the morning, you might wake… ”
“What’s going on out here.” Two hot guys with disheveled hair and droopy eyes sauntered out of a room just opposite the girls. It was Cardin and Barton.
Naomi inwardly sighed, turning to them.
“It’s nothing p>
“Naomi has been crying.” Brittany said and they all turn to Axle and Acella with suspicious looks
Acella just returned their suspicious looks with a silent glare but Axle shrugged.
“Why are looking at us? Ask her mate why she’s crying p>
The twins suddenly turned over-protective.
“What did he do?” Barton slightly grabbed Naomi’s arm.
At the moment, Acella and Axle also turned cautious and over-protective and stepped closer to Naomi, as If warning Barton to be cautious as well. The two didn’t understand why they did that, but seeing Barton so close to their queen, ignited something in them.
“Guys please… stop this p>
“I’m telling Koan.” Talia frowned seriously before leaving. The best person to handle this was Koan, because If nothing was done between Daniel and Naomi right now, it might become toxic in the future.
Naomi sighed, holding her forehead, trembling from so much emotions.
“Your highness, we haven’t got time for this.” Acella calmly reminded her.
Everyone turned curious. Got time for what?
“But Koan… ”
“Talia’s already heading to his room to call him out.” Brittany reminded her.
“Then we haven’t got time to waste. He’ll meet us there. The sun is almost rising.” Acella added and Naomi sighed before moving, her new handmaidens behind her before the twins followed.
’Did you feel that?” Axle asked Acella using the mind link.
’I thought I was the only one. I guess this is a sure sign that we have another rare gem as a leader and we should make sure nothing happens to her. Even when she’s not here.” The last sentence held warning.

Cardin was deciding between joining them or going back to bed when he suddenly tensed up on seeing a python crawling towards him.
Before he uttered a word, it shape shifted into a human figure and when it rose, it was Hakura.
“Where are they going?” She asked, causally coming to stand beside Cardin like it was a normal day-to-day activity to see a snake shape shift into a witch.
Cardin sighed.
“I don’t know. Why don’t you follow them and find out p>
“I’m still sleepy,” She yawned. “But since you don’t look like you care, I’m guessing it’s important. So let’s go p>
“Wait… No.. I.. ” He was suddenly yanked out of his spot and he found himself following Hakura like a lost puppy, her grip on his hand, very hard.
