Chapter 119
Her hand trembled over the screen as she dialed his number before handing it to him, not daring to look back after.
As the ringing sound echoed in the room, he nudged her slightly from behind.
“You can leave now p>
She suddenly shook her head.
“I want to stay here p>
“It’s a confidential call.” He sternly reminded her.
“But I’m your… ” She felt a chill coming from behind, so she kept her mouth shut.
The phone was still ringing, so he leaned back with his chair.
She gasped as she fell on her bottom, to the floor, turning to glare at him.
Koan scarcely returned her glare and only went back to tapping his other finger at the side of chair, the other holding a phone to his ear. He however, was not expecting her next move.
Just as she got up, he was expecting her to leave and really didn’t spare her a glance.
The next minute, his chair almost fell backwards as she leaped on him, straddling him immediately with each leg secured at each side of his, curling her hands around his waist and leaning her head down to his chest.
Surprised wouldn’t even be the best word to describe what he was feeling now. He was stunned to disbelief, such that he couldn’t even do anything but hold the phone to his ear and stare down at the mass of curly blue hair lying on his chest.
He sighed.
“F**king kid.” But he didn’t push her away. Hell, he didn’t even think he could. She was glued to him like a koala. He could only ignore her completely as Daniel suddenly spoke up from the other line.
“Hello? Nancy p>
“It’s Koan p>
After Daniel was done with his school work, he went to his room to freshen up and get dressed.
Honestly, he wasn’t ecstatic about heading out today, since he wanted to use his day of freedom as a means to rest after a hectic week.
What worsened it was that Dora would be joining them, and he couldn’t protest or force her not to comply to leaving with him, because he wasn’t sure what usually ran through her mind.
If it wasn’t Barton who had suggested for Naomi to join them, he wasn’t sure she would have let Naomi come along.
To Dora, Naomi was like an annoying leech, a fly, a pest which she wanted to get rid off, and to stay very far far away from her.
The silence in the car was awkward as the girls sat side by side in the car while Daniel sat at the Passenger’s seat.
Barton joined them after, after arranging the basket and other things needed for the picnic at the back.
Daniel was half-glarimg at Barton while he drove, evident that he wasn’t happy about Dora in the back.
However, Naomi was praying for anything to kill her along the way, because she felt Dora’s glare from her side would pierce her sides and kill her either way.
But, when he heard Koan’s neutral, almost Android Like voice, he stiffened and focused on the call.
After all, there was only one Koan he knew.. and that was Alpha Koan of Crescent Moon’s pack.
He was speechless for some seconds, wondering two things at once.
Why was he suddenly calling him? He wasn’t one to call for a casual greeting. It had to be very important.
And why Nancy’s phone?
Koan assumed he was still too speechless and confused over everything to talk, so he continued.
“Did you get the newsletter from Alpha Joseph p>
Daniel shook his head once he got his mind back on his planet.
“Uh… yeah. I did p>
“Good. Because we have something to talk about… unfortunately not over the phone.” He glared down at Nancy, but stiffened in shock when he met her eyes, only to realize she had been stealing glances at him.
When his eyes narrowed in anger, she leaned back down in a flash and tightened her grip around his waist.
“I’m not sure if I’m coming.” Daniel mumbled.
“This meeting so happens to be your first, and it’s very important that you grace the meeting with your prescence. Is it about your mate p>
“Haven’t found mine,” he peered through the rear view mirror, and luckily the two women seated behind didn’t seem to bother about his call.
“Do they also let loner wolf’s into the meeting?” He added tauntingly, sure of Koan’s reputation.
Koan crudely smirked, subconsciously patting the hair before him, before running his fingers through the thick locks, softly caressing her scalp, back to her skull, before repeating the process again.
Nancy stiffened on feeling his hand on her hair, but after a few seconds of massaging her scalp, she slowly got sleepy, so sleepy that she wasn’t able to hold open her eyes lids, so they shut closed, her grip loosening around him without the Alpha realizing.
“I’m certain you’ll find yours before the date of the meeting… I mean, everyone is bound to find their mate… just like I did p>
Daniel’s first thought was obviously Nancy, but he didn’t want to try his guess at something he wasn’t so sure off.
“Don’t be absent at the meeting.” Koan warned, and without a single word, he ended the call, slowly releasing the mass of hair in his grip, so that it bounced down to shield part of her face.
“I’m done with the call now. Are you planning on staying here for the rest of the day p>
He warily asked, placing the phone on the table behind her.
When he didn’t get a reply, he leaned back a bit to stare into her face, only for his lower lip to fall in disbelief and exasperation.
The girl was already sleeping, her arms securely wrapped around him, her small lips parted as she breathed in and out, her face flushed from the heat of being close to him.
Unexplainably, he didn’t even want to wake her up and just went about doing his office duties.
If he did, she would continue sleeping and not distract him since she didn’t snore.
