Chapter 80
“I don’t understand,” Brittany threw the blankets across her legs and swiftly moved to sit at the edge of the bed just next to her twin. I saw them take you away. You were willing to follow them… W-What are you… Kitsune!” She suddenly yelled, realizing the only explanation as to why Naomi was standing before her holding her tray of breakfast like she didn’t see her leave with the Kitsunes just last night.
This was obviously an impostor sent here to kill them all!
Royce almost flew into the room from the bathroom.
“Babe?!” He had heard her scream and had rushed out in time to see Barton holding her down on the bed.
“What’s going on here p>
Talia, John and Jephthah who were heading downstairs for breakfast heard the yell and rushed into the room as well.
“Naomi?!” Talia looked as shock as Brittany did but she wasn’t overreacting as she was. She just looked visibly surprised.
Barton held Brittany further down and hissed at her.
“What would a Kitsune be doing here in the first place?! If you keep acting like this, the entire household would know what’s really going on p>
With that, she calmed down but she still glaced at Naomi from the edge of her eyes, warily.
Naomi calmly dropped the tray of breakfast, feeling embrassed as everyone stared at her now.
“Thank you.” Royce said to her casually with a small smile, taking the tray from her and going to sit on the bed, next to Brittany.
“Guys, I want to talk to Naomi. So can you give us some privacy?” Barton said to the twins and Talia who was sandwiched between them.
Talia glanced at Naomi again before twisting her hair behind her ear.
“Sure. Sure p>
With that, the three left the room.
Barton led Naomi out the room after they’d left and they went past the room to talk somewhere secluded.
“Start talking or I might just believe Brittany’s insane theory about you being an impostor p>
Naomi bit her lower lip as she said everything in one breath.
“I asked the Kitsunes to grace me one week here and then I’d leave for good p>
Barton blinked. He didn’t think she’d be so straightforward so he was still trying to comprehend what she said when she held his arm with a pleading look in her eyes.
“I know you probably hate my decision but you have to understand… The longer I stay here, the more danger the entire pack, the entire werewolf territory is in. I’m doing this for everyone, and Daniel… I just wish p>
“Listen,” he sighed before he said. “I understand, Okay? I Know what’s going on. I’m not blind. But Daniel’s not me. He doesn’t like to read between the lines or understand the expantiativity of anything. He just wants things to go his way. And I know my cousin. If you leave him, he will be devastated for life and hate you p>
“No. You don’t know Daniel as much as I do. Daniel rejected me without a second thought… and wouldn’t hesitate to force me to reject him now we know how it really works. He hates the fact that he’s mated to someone like me p>
“No he doesn’t. He cares about you p>
“He cares about himself. If people find out that I’m his mate, it will be bad for his reputation and his pack p>
“T-then why did you come back p>
“I came back because I just couldn’t get over the fact that I have to leave Dark Risers’s pack behind. This Pack’s been my home for as long as I can remember and leaving it, leaving so many years of memories behind was so difficult for me. I had to beg to come back. I want to say my goodbyes. Just for one week p>
Barton sighed.
“You’re back now, we can stop them from taking you again p>
“No. It will only end up getting you guys hurt again and I don’t want that to happen because of me. I saw what they did to you. I won’t bear to see you guys get hurt again p>
“Naomi you can’t just leave p>
“I don’t have a choice! And it’s not like anyone is willing to answer my questions. Like who exactly I am? I Know I’m a Kitsune but why do they want me so bad? Where exactly do I come from? I have dreams, Barton. Right from when I was little, I had dreams that no one could interpret to me. I have all these questions to ask and I need my answers p>
“You do realize that if you go there, you will never come back p>

Naomi looked away

A tear rolled down her eyes and she quickly wiped it off with the back of her hand.

“Naomi do you realize how happy he’s going to be once again when he realizes that his supposed dead best friend is Alive p>
“That would probably be possible when he was still little. Barton, it’s been more than a decade. If he realizes that all these years he’s been hurting, mourning over my death while I was still alive, He. Will. Kill. Me”
“I think he has to know how his mate looks like. Don’t you think part of the reason he’s not really into you is because you hide your face behind that mask p>
“Imagine when he find out his long time dead best friend is not only alive but also a Kitsune. Yeah. I’m really looking forward to his reaction.” She sounded pained and sacarstic.
“Well, since you’re still adamant, I think you should know what’s been going on p>
On seeing the curious lost look in her eyes, he continued,
“Dora’s been threatening Daniel to expose who you are Infront of the entire Dark Risers’s pack so he could make her his Luna p>
The news was like a vase crashing onto her head. She stilled.

“To make her his Luna of course p>
Naomi stiffened and her expression turned blank just as Barton dipped his head down so that they could be of the same height.
“You know why? Because he cares about you so much that he’s willing to scarfice his happiness rather than let you get killed. You might be a Kitsune but you’re unable to use your pworres. If any one find out who you are, you’ll be ripped into shreds in less than a minute p>
