The royal gamma Eiten brought marshmallow sticks with him, so they could eat together. He had an easy, and cheerfully personality, as if there was nothing could set him in a bad mood.
He was very different from the king and the royal beta, and somehow, Rania found herself relax in his
presence.
“Oh, you like this cartoon? So do I!” Eiten exclaimed happily, as he settled on the sofa opposite from Rania. He offered her the marshmallow stick, which she accepted.
In truth, Rania didn’t like it. She couldn’t taste the sweetness, and it was sticky inside her mouth. The texture was weird, but she didn’t want to upset him, by refusing the offer.
However, there was something a little bit off with the marshmallow stick. She had it back in her pack, but as far as she knew the sauce was not the color of red. Usually, it would be white cream or chocolate.
Yet, Rania didn’t say anything. Probably, it was different here in the Centra City, thus she didn’t think much of it, and kept eating. She also didn’t notice the way Eiten glanced at her.
“So, you are the king’s mate.” That sounded like a statement rather than a question.
After a long silence, where Rania wondered why the royal gamma was here to watch the cartoon with her, Eiten finally spoke. He looked at Rania closely, as if her personality was written all over her face.
“Yes, I think so…” Rania touched the mark on her neck subconsciously, she didn’t know how to answer that direct question.
“But, before this you are mated to alpha Caden, but he rejected you p>
Rania was stunned, her body turned rigid, but she tried to be calm. “Yes.” Rania lowered her head, ashamed.
“Then why do you still want him?” Eiten raised his brows. He reached for the remote control, and mute the television.
And as the silence descended upon them, Rania could feel this uneasiness that settled in her stomach. She was very wrong to think the gamma was an easy person. He wouldn’t be a royal gamma, if he was.
“I don’t.” Rania pressed her tongue on the ceiling of her mouth, to prevent herself from stuttering. Her hands were shaking.
The pressure that came from the royal gamma was not as bad like the king, still, it made Rania uncomfortable.
“But, that’s not what I heard.” Eiten tilted his head, he could see the distressful look on Rania’s face, so he leaned back on the sofa, and relaxed his posture, stopped intimidating her with his presence, since he realized
she couldn’t handle it.
He thought, the king must have mistaken her fear to disgust, his guess was emphasized by how her hands were shaking.

“I heard, you had been chasing the alpha to fuck you.” Eiten saw how she flinched, and her nose scrunched up in disgust, but she didn’t say anything. This was the problem. Maximus hated it when someone ignored them.
But, in Rania’s case, he didn’t think this woman ignored Maximus. Somehow, she couldn’t speak.
Eiten had seen something like this before, since he used to deal with the cruel side of this kingdom. When someone was too scared, they turned speechless. It was a trauma response.
Maximus and Declan didn’t know this kind of things, since they didn’t want to understand it.
“So, tell me, is that true?” Eiten watched how Rania shook her head. She could have acted so well, and now she couldn’t go back to her own pack, she changed her tactic. That was also a possibility.
Eiten had to know her better to tell, which one was her real personality, because he couldn’t determine that in one short meeting.
“No? So, tell me what’s the truth p>
“She is scared.” Eiten slouched down on the coach in the king’s study. “You have mistaken her fear with disgust. I am sure the rumors about her are not true. She only looked disgusted when I brought up alpha Caden’s name p>
“That, or she is really good at acting.” Declan was always very skeptical on everything. He still believed that Rania was faking it, or else, the information that he quickly gathered in the Black Stone pack were wrong, and in another words, he was being fooled.
Declan could tolerate anything, but being fooled.
“Can you say that for sure?” Declan raised his brows at the royal gamma, as he put down more documents in front of Maximus for him to check.
“Well, I can’t say for sure.” Eiten shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.
“I thought you are good at reading people p>
“In my defense, that’s my first time meeting her, what do you expect? I am no a mind reader.” Eiten threw the royal beta a nasty look, which Declan ignored. But then, he added. “But, you are right. I think she has trouble with her tongue p>
Eiten then told them about the special marshmallow sticks that he brought for her. It was deep in hot sauce, which made Eiten’s eyes watery, that’s why he didn’t eat anything.
“She didn’t even flinch when she ate them, as if they tasted nothing p>
“Maybe she likes spicy food.” Declan was still with his skepticism.
“Or maybe, she can’t taste anything p>
Both of them glared at each other. But, this was a normal sight to see whenever they were in the same room.

“Why don’t you ask her directly? That will be a good thing to start a conversation,” Eiten suggested. “That’s a direct way to know.” Sometime, Eiten could only sigh helplessly with Maximus’s ability with social clue.
The king didn’t make a conversation, because the only word he knew was violence.
Maximus then left the study, because he didn’t want to hear Declan and Eiten started their meaningless argument.
He didn’t go straight to his bedroom, but instead he went to Rania’s. The door was not lock, and when he entered, he saw her curl herself on the sofa. She was in pain.
