“The rumor…” Rania wanted to tell him that the rumor was not true, but she couldn’t get the word out of her mouth. She hated it whenever she was not able to articulate her words clearly, and they were stuck in her throat, “I didn’t p>
Rania wanted to tell him that she had never wanted Caden. She accepted the rejection right away. She didn’t even want him to touch her again.
But, the words stuck in her throat, and she couldn’t get them out. She became frustrated, and tears fell on her cheeks.
Maximus frowned when he saw this strong reaction, he scratched his head, and sighed loudly in frustration, which only made the words disappeared from Rania’s tongue. She couldn’t speak.
“I will ask someone to walk you back to your room after you get your breakfast.” Maximus stood up. He was suppressing his displeasure and anger.
He needed to leave, because if he stayed a little bit longer, he was going to explode, and obviously, it was not a smart move to scare her even more.
And with that, Maximus left Rania, without hearing her explanation. It was not like she was going to say anything, when her tongue failed her.
In her frustration, Rania cried silently. She wanted to tell him that was not true, that she had never harbored any feeling for Caden.
However, what was the point of it? There was no guarantee he would believe her over those people, who had wronged her, and talked so badly about her.
If
any case, her explanation would look like an excuse, and he might despise her, thinking that she was lying.
Rania covered her face with both of her palms, and cried without sound. She felt wronged.
Two hours later, someone brought her breakfast. It was Kean, she stayed with her there, and after Rania was done with her food, she showed her to her bedroom.
Kean seemed to want to say something, but seeing the look on Rania’s face, she held herself back, and kept quiet tactfully.
Once Rania entered the room, she collapsed on the bed, she was exhausted. The tension with the king this early morning, after the pain from the previous night was too much for her to handle.
And with tired mind and body, Rania slipped into a deep sleep. This time, she didn’t have a nightmare. She didn’t even have enough strength to dream of anything.
The king had been in a very bad moon in the past three days, ever since what happened to Rania. He would come to the training ground every day, and trained with the warriors.

However, for the warriors, it was a torture. Many of them had to stay in the infirmary, because the king was too savage with them. He attacked with the intention to kill them all.
Thankfully, none of them lost their lives, yet.
Maximus had not yet visited Rania, because he didn’t know how to act around her, but from what he learned. she was getting better.
Lula had come to visit her, and asked a few questions about why her illness for not being able to taste anything.
From what the healer told him, she started to lose her taste buds around a year ago. She didn’t explain why, and what happened to her, but when Lula asked further, she shut her up.
Maximus knew that habit more than he wanted by now. She wouldn’t say anything, and tensed up, as if her life was in danger.
Because of that same reason, Maximus didn’t come to see her for the past few days, since he knew his bad temper would only scare her.
However, on the fifth day, he couldn’t stay away, and kept things like this. She was his mate, he had marked her, but they had not yet mated.
His wolf was restless now, and this must be one of the reasons why his mood had taken a nosedive nowadays.
Therefore, Maximus came to Rania’s bedroom in one evening, and found her as in the bathroom. The sound of water against her body, and her subtle movement, made his eyes was a shade darker.
Maximus walked toward where his mate was, and opened the door of the bathroom, as he saw her silhouette behind the glass. Her naked body made his blood boiled.
There were only two options for him; walk away from her, or he was going to do what he should have done many days ago.
The former option would put him in agony, and probably got one of his warriors killed in his rage, but the latter option would scare his mate, and they would go back to square one.
Didn’t know what to decide, Maximus stayed there for a long while, until Rania was done, and she turned off the shower. Only then, she realized there was someone else watching her.
She was too engrossed with her warm water, and the fact that she had peaceful days without the king in sight.
She read books, and watched the movies that she liked, sleeping and was simply being idle. She enjoyed her time alone. Because of that, she put her guards down, thinking the king had forgotten about her.
How silly she was.
That was why, Rania was shocked when she saw Maximus was standing there at the door, his eyes fixed on her. The intensity of his stare made her whole body turned bright red.
It didn’t help, when she didn’t have anything to cover her nakedness.

Rania glanced at the towel, that hung next to the king. She wouldn’t be able to get it without walking passed
him.
“My king…” Rania voice came out as a whisper. She tried to cover her breasts with her arms, but what was the point? If he had been standing there, while she was showering, it meant he had seen her.
“Fuck it!” Maximus growled, as he crossed the room and reached out for his mate.
