Chapter 449
I was awake but my eyes were closed. I could hear hushed voices coming from the kitchen. Were they whispering because I was asleep? Or were they whispering because they didn’t want me to hear?
I was undecided if I wanted to let them know I was indeed awake and could hear everything they were saying.
Alanna was here once again.
Wait.
I shot up from where I was laying.
How did they get into my house?
“He’s got to have come from somewhere”. Jake hissed.
Ah, that’s how they got inside. I knew I had locked all doors.
A yawn fell from my lips as I stretched out my arms and got to my feet. Carter, Alanna, Jack and Pete were all standing in our kitchen. I hadn’t seen Pete since I got back, and I wasn’t sure if it was going to be awkward or not.
“What’s going on for you all to be standing in my kitchen”. I frowned.
“Got you Starbucks”. Alanna spoke.
“As an I’m sorry?”. I asked.
She nodded. “Sleep deprivation drives me crazy p>
I rolled my eyes taking the coffee from her. “I’m guessing the boys awake p>
“He’s awake and not talking. Doesn’t know p>
“He’s terrified”. Alanna interrupted. “Won’t talk to anyone, won’t even tell us his name. Keeps asking if he can leave p>
“Then let him leave”. I shrugged.
“What so he can go back and tell his pack what the inside of our territory looks like”. Pete glared.
Ouch.
“Watch your mouth”. Jake snapped.
“I’m pretty sure with the painkillers he’s taken he won’t remember a thing”. I crossed my arms over my chest. Looks like Pete isn’t my biggest fan, and I have no idea why.
Wasn’t me that got him kidnapped.
I made a face at my own thoughts. That was a low blow even for me.
“He’s not going anywhere until I know where he came from and what he was doing here. Until I get the answers I want, I need you all back out there p>
“I’ve got dinner plans with mom and gran so I’m out”. Alanna spoke. “And Leah is also busy with the same plans p>
So, Evelyn was finally here.
“Fine but you can pick up the morning shift with Pete p>
“No, because grans here and I’ll be busy with her p>
“Fine whatever. Jack call Rocco and tell him I want him out early tonight. No excuses I need everyone on their A game p>
“You got it”. Jack spoke.
I watched as they left out the back door. Alanna of course didn’t, she was sat across from me slurping away on her coffee. I was still a little dry with her after her antics earlier.
“Have you eaten?”. He asked.
I nodded. “I had some soup. I can fix you a bowl if you want p>
“Oh, I’ll have some”. Alanna spoke.
“Don’t you have somewhere you need to be?”. I asked.
“Fine”. She huffed. “I know when I’m not wanted p>
I rolled my eyes and went about fixing Jake a bowl of soup. I loved her to death, but she sure knew how to push my buttons at times. I mean who goes looking for an argument?
That girl done it as a hobby.
I groaned as she slammed the door on the way out.
A laugh fell from Jakes lips as he wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head against my shoulder. “Bet that felt good”. He kissed my cheek.
“It did”. I grinned. “Do you want some bread with this p>
“Yeah, babe, please”. He kissed the top of my head his arms slipping from my waist. “I’m going to shower quickly and then I’ll eat p>
“Okay”. I nodded. “I’m going to nip to the store real quick before going to your moms p>
“Why do you need to go to the store p>
