I went to bed but didn’t nap. I lay staring at the ceiling with the tv on for background nose. The pain in my head had dulled, the bottle of water Jake forced me to take helped with that.
Grabbing my phone from the nightstand I read the text message my gran had sent an hour ago. She was inviting me over for coffee at six, but dinner was at eight.
I frowned. I would go for coffee before we had dinner. Maybe she wanted to spend time together just us. I still had to tell her I was done with this whole situation. We were moving on, moving past it and hopefully we could become a family again.
I quickly replied, stretched out my arms and got myself out of bed. Heading into the bathroom I washed my face before grabbing one of Jakes jumpers and pulling it over my head.
I was starving and I was kicking myself for turning down that burger. I made my way downstairs. Jake was sat on the sofa his head buried in his phone football playing on the tv.

“Hey”. He put his phone away patting the space next to him. “Did you sleep p>
I shook my head. “But my headache is gone and I’m starving p>
“Wishing we went for that burger”. He laughed. “We could still go grab something. Go through the drive-thru p>
“Is my dad still here?”. I asked.
“Yeah”. He nodded. “Went for a run about half an hour ago. Is everything okay?”. “Yeah”. I chewed the inside of my cheek. “Just haven’t really had the chance to spend time with him p>
“Do you still want to go back with him?”. He asked.
“I was never going back with him Jake but to answer your question I would like to visit at some point”. If I could put everything that has happened behind me then I want to go on and meet the other side of my family.
I had another gran out there. I had cousins and uncles and aunties.

I grabbed my shoes and headed for his truck.
“Do you know what we haven’t had in ages”. He spoke unlocking the truck.
“What’s that?”. I clipped my seatbelt into place as he started the engine. “A date p>

“You hated it”. He cut me off. “I remember and trust me I won’t make that mistake again p>
“You were trying to impress me weren’t you”. I grinned.
“Clearly you were more impressed with a burger and dirty fries p>
“Always”. I winked as he reversed out of the driveway and took off down the street.
