She had to say that she was my gran.
“Thanks gran and thanks for letting me hide out here p>
“Just promise me you’ll talk to Jake and work this out. I don’t want you going away tonight on bad terms p>
I had every intention of talking to him. I didn’t want to leave on bad terms either, but I needed a little breathing room to calm down. I didn’t want to argue with him, but he made it difficult at times.
Yes, I know, I was just as bad.
A sigh fell from my lips as I nodded. “I promise p>
I had been at my grans for at least 2 hours and had yet to hear from him. Like an idiot I kept checking my phone expecting him to call. Heck, I expected him to be pounding down the door and yet he wasn’t.
Maybe he needed more time to cool off. Or maybe he was sick of my bullshit and was leaving me to it. A sigh fell from my lips as I got to my feet. There was no point in hiding out here.
If he wanted to see me, he’d be here already.
I sent my gran a text before locking up and heading home. Maybe he’d be there who knows.
Nope, I returned to an empty house which when I come to think of it was happening way more often. But Jake was busy dealing with pack stuff just like always.
I made a face. I was starting to sound bitter. I got myself a drink before heading up to our bedroom. If I was leaving with my dad, then I had to pack a bag.
But how much do I pack?
How long did I plan on staying?
College started in exactly 20 days, less than 3 weeks. I wasn’t exactly prepared for that either. I opened my closet, pulled out my suitcase and began to pack my essentials.
I was making a sandwich when he decided to show face. Bypassing me he went straight to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water. He looked flush, his breathing uneven, that told me he had been running.
Probably taking all his frustration out in the forest.
“Do you want one?”. I asked.
“No thanks. I’m going to shower p>
“Can we at least talk about this like adults?”. I put the knife down and turned so I could face him. “It’ll only be for a few days a week tops. You know how important this is for me p>
A sigh fell from his lips as he ran a hand down his face. “I’m sorry about earlier. I shouldn’t have stormed off. You want to go visit with your dad then fine. Go do what you need to do p>
I made a face as he about turned and made his way upstairs.
Why was he acting this way? He knew it was coming. We had talked about us going together. Maybe he didn’t like that it was happening so sudden?
I wanted to scream my frustration but instead I grit my teeth and stormed off after him. He wasn’t getting to make me feel like I was doing something wrong. Jake was good at playing the poor me card and like always I fell for it.
Not this time. He was going to suck it up and deal with not having me around for a few days.
He managed for 8 years, I’m sure a few days won’t kill him.
