I was in two minds on whether to change or not. I had an hour before lunch with Jake’s mom and gran. He wasn’t back yet, and he wasn’t answering his phone. Yes, I had already tried to call Alanna and Carter, and both went straight to voicemail.
I wanted to know if the kid was okay. I wanted to know what was going on instead of being left in the dark. Alanna had blocked me in so I couldn’t drive there, and it would take me at least half an hour to walk.
Could always shift?
I frowned. That was a first for me.
I heard the front door open and close. I grabbed my jacket and purse and headed downstairs.
It was my dad.

“Is the boy, okay?”. I asked.
“They managed to save his leg but he’s not awake yet. He’s resting up at Jake’s parents p>
“Is that where Jake is now p>
“Yeah, everyone is there. I’m going to grab a quick shower before heading back over there.
Everyone but me.
“Okay well I’m heading over there just now. Lock up when you leave p>
“Are you okay?” He asked.
“Yeah”. I nodded. “Are you going home today?”. Not that I wanted rid of him or anything, but I liked to plan ahead. I liked to know what was going on.
“I was going to head out later tonight. I can stay if you want p>
Did I want that? Of course, I wanted him around, but he had a pack to run and other family to get back to. He could visit again, and I could always visit him.
“You should go home”. I spoke. “I’m sure there’s people there that miss having you around.
A laugh fell from his lips. “I’m sure they’re managing fine without me. You will come visit, won’t you p>
“Yeah”. I nodded. “That hasn’t changed I still want to meet my family p>
“Great”. He smiled. “That’s great. I won’t be leaving until dark so we can grab a late dinner before I go p>

I took the short walk to Jake’s parents and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. With everything that happened last night was the lunch still going ahead? Was his gran even here?
Did I knock or go straight in? I shrugged my hand on the door handle I pushed it open. I was early but it was better being early than late. I walked my way into the house and found Charlotte in the kitchen alone.
Whatever she was cooking smelt amazing.

“Is Jake here?” I asked.
“He’s upstairs with Carl. That poor boy hasn’t woken up yet p>
“Probably all the trauma and not to mention the meds the doc will have him on. Is he going to be all right p>
