“I don’t want you to become overwhelmed. I thought I’d let you get settled in first and then I’d open the doors again p>
“You didn’t need to do that”. I didn’t want anyone thinking I was pushing them out. Yes, I would would have been overwhelmed but I would have gotten over it. It was only natural being in a house filled with people you didn’t know but I wanted things to be normal.
This was their pack house not mine.
“I know I didn’t but the last thing I want to do is make you feel uncomfortable or make you want to leave. Especially when you’ve only just arrived p>
I wasn’t going to leave. My plan was to see out the week and go from there. I of course was going home but this visit would decide how many times I would be visiting throughout the year.
I had to remember this is what I wanted. Meeting my family was all I’ve ever wanted.
“I appreciate that”. I smiled. “But I don’t want your pack thinking they can’t come to the pack house just because I’m there p>
“They’ll still come around. I sometimes think they all prefer to live there together than in their own homes”. He laughed.
I liked that. I liked that they were all one big family who loved to be around each other. I could already tell how close they all were, and I hadn’t even met them yet.
I thanked the waitress as she placed our food on the table.
“Have you heard from Jake, and did he get home okay p>
“He called as soon as he got home p>
“Are you two doing, okay?”. He asked.
“Yeah”. I nodded. “We’re always okay. We have little disagreements, but they never come to much p>
“Thats’ normal”. He smiled. “But as long as you’re happy and he makes you happy p>
“He does”. I grinned.
“But p>
“But sometimes my mind wanders and I think about how my life would be if I never met him p>
“You would have always met him, Leah. You were destined to be together; Jake is the other half of you p>
“I sometimes feel I don’t fit in, and I know I shouldn’t, but I do. Everyone is great and so nice, but I feel I don’t know or have the respect of the pack. How can I help run it if they don’t respect me p>
“Why wouldn’t they respect you p>
“Because I’m not like them p>
“Yes, you are”. He made a face. “You are a full-blooded werewolf just like them only you are more powerful p>
Powerful? Yeah, right. I may be the daughter of two Alpha’s but to me that didn’t mean a thing. How can I be more powerful when I can’t shift when I want.
I had the same abilities, but they weren’t as strong as the others. My hearing and sight were advanced but not to the full extent. I had concluded that maybe I just wasn’t meant to be anything other than human.
“Is this because of the problem you’re having with shifting p>
I pursed my lips before taking a bite of my pancake. “Anger controls my shifts. I can’t do it unless someone pisses me off p>
“I don’t believe that for a second. After this week you’ll be able to shift when you want p>
“If you say so”. I continued to eat my food; I didn’t have much hope because up until now I still hadn’t been able to do it. But i liked his confidence.
“I want you to meet my Beta tomorrow”. He spoke. “I think you two will get along well and he’s one hell of a teacher p>
“You want him to teach me p>
“I do”. He nodded. “You want to be able to shift and connect with your wolf and I think Liam can help you do that. He also has the patience of a saint”. He chuckled.
He would need the patience of all the saints if he was going to teach me.
